Heraklion Airport (HER): Approximate driving time is 35 minutes and distance is 35 kilometres (22 miles).
Both taxis and buses can be found right outside the airport. Typical taxi fare should be €4-5 to Heraklion city; visitors should agree the fare beforehand.
Driving directions: From the airport take the National Road in the direction of Agios Nikolaos. Turn left, continue to the traffic lights, turn right and enter Malia. Drive through the shopping district and the hotel is on the right hand side.
The best way to get around Crete is by rental car or bike, although buses go to most places throughout the island. The Cretan bus company KTEL has stations in all the larger cities and stops all along the routes. Many locations are also accessible by ferry and boat taxi. Taxies in Crete are reasonable but visitors should make sure the driver uses the meter.
